Online Job Ads In July Up 5.2% From Last Year

ONLINE JOB ADS IN JULY UP 5.2% FROM LAST YEAR
Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, and Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers are the Top Jobs in July.
MONTGOMERY – Data collected and analyzed by the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information (LMI) Division shows that in July 2023, there were 118,666 job ads posted in Alabama.
The five occupations with the most online job ads are for Registered Nurses, Retail Salespersons, Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers, Sales Reps, Wholesale & Manufacturing, Ex. Technical & Scientific Products, and Fast Food and Counter Workers, with 18,500 ads placed for those occupations in July.
The HWOL data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites.
In July 2023, there were 48,540 total job ads with salaries, including 14,642 jobs ads with salaries of $70,000 and above; 8,372 jobs ads with salaries in the $50-69,000 range; 11,907 jobs ads with salaries in the $35-50,000 range, and 13,619 jobs ads with salaries less than $35,000.
The top two employers posting the most online ads in July were Walmart with 1,186 and UAB Medicine with 1,161. The rest of the top 10 were: Huntsville Hospital (1,089), The University of Alabama Birmingham (891), Auburn University (773), Baptist Health (575), Lowe’s (571), Encompass Health (564), Regions (507), and Walgreens (473).

They may also initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment. Typically, employees in these occupations usually need several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or an Associate’s Degree. A license is required through the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapists. The advertised median salary for Respiratory Therapists in Alabama is $54,784. This occupation has 175 Annual Total Openings in Alabama.
